COMMUNITY ISSUES
Here are my ideas to help lift our community out of poverty and into a sustainable economic future.
Master Plan
Consult with the City of Albuquerque Planning Office to develop a master-plan for development
Assessment
Take an inventory of properties that have been shuttered or abandoned and seek potential investors for possible projects.
Block Grants
Explore options for Community Development Block Grants in coordination with partners at the state, city, and county levels.
Tax Credits
Identify New Market Tax Credits for potential projects.
Tax Incentive
Research and discuss options for homeowner tax incentive programs to encourage growth in dilapidated areas.
Main Street Grant
Apply for a Main Street Grant in partnership with the State and National Main Street Trust to support businesses from Nob Hill to the canyon.
Remove Contaminates
Apply for Brownfields funding for abandoned industrial and petroleum contaminated sites.
Essential Services
Partner with essential services (urgent care centers, banks, supermarkets, etc.) to bring much-needed services to the community.
HUBZone
It is also important to note that much of the district is qualified HUBZone designated and could be a prime area for federal contracting companies. ******
Our current leadership has failed to take advantage of the resources available to the businesses in District 3.
Homelessness
There is not a one solution fix to this issue. This is a multi-faceted societal problem that has already had millions of dollars thrown its way. My focus is identification, enforcement of existing laws, accessibility to resources that are already in place, and to shift more support for the businesses that are being affected and inhibited by the unhoused epidemic. This must be dealt with if this district expects to attract new businesses as well as retain the businesses that are here.
Crime
We understand your concerns about public safety, and we are dedicated to implementing strong measures to reduce crime and make our streets safer for everyone.
Housing Insecurity
Our approach to addressing homelessness is both compassionate and practical, aimed at long-term solutions that work for everyone.
Business
We believe in creating an environment where businesses can thrive, bringing more jobs and economic opportunities to our community. Without businesses our city would be lost. We will bring essential business back to neighborhoods that desperately need them.
Accountability
Through fiscal responsibility we will ensure your hard-earned tax dollars are spent wisely, focusing on essential services and infrastructure improvements that benefit all.
